When Revalda, Siska, and Cynthia are studying at school, they worry about Abdul that isn't going to school.
Revalda                   : "Siska, do you realize that something is lost?"
Siska                       : "What?"
Cynthia                    : "Abdul! He isn't attending the class"
Revalda and Siska   : "Aha! You're right"
Cynthia                    : "Do you know why he isn't coming to school?"
Revalda                   : "I don't know! How about you, Siska?
Siska                       : "So do I. Would you like to call him after the the class is over?"
Revalda                   : "Sure"
After the class is over....
Cynthia                    : "Have you called Abdul?"
Revalda                   : "Sorry! I forget. Thank you for remind me"
And then Revalda take out his handphone and call Abdul
Revalda                   : "Hello, am I speaking to Abdul?"
Abdul                      : "Yes,  this is me. what's up Reval?"
Revalda                   : "Why you didn't come to school?"
Abdul                      : "I didn't go to school because I'm sick and I'm in the hospital now"
Revalda                   : "What happened with you? Are you okay?"
Abdul                      : "I'm okay. I'm in Antonius Hospital now"
Revalda                   : "May I, Siska, and Cynthia visit you?"
Abdul                      : "Yes of course. Thanks"
Revalda                   : "Okay, bye. I hope you get well soon"
Siska and Cynthia : "What happened with him?"
Revalda                   : "He was so tired. So he got sick and in the hospital
Cynthia                    : "Is't right?"
Revalda                   : "Yes. Would both of you accompany me to visit him in the hospital?"
Siska                       : "Yes, I would like to. How about you, Cynthia?"
Cynthia                    : "Yes, me too"
They arrived in the front of  Abdul's room
Siska                        : "Good afternoon! is Abdul inside?"
Abdul's mother         : "Yes, come in"
Cynthia                     : "Hi Abdul, look what have we bought for you!"
Abdul                       : "That's great! I am pleased"
They have talked for a few minutes until the doctor came
Doctor                      : "Good afternoon everybody"
All                            : "Good afternoon"
Doctor                      : "It's time to the regular injection"
Abdul                       : "Please, Doc!"
Doctor                     : "This injection will not hurt you much"
Abdul                       : "Auch.... It hurt"
Doctor                     : "Okay, that is enough for today"
Siska                        : "Is that hurt? I think that you over reacted the injection"
Cynthia and Revalda : "Haha.."
Revalda                    : "Maybe we should go home now, because it's already night. We hope you get wells soon. See you at school. Bye!"
Abdul                       : "Thank you. Be careful. Bye!

The Old Widow , The Poor Girl and The Finches

In a small village, there lived a kind hearted poor girl. One day, the girl found a poor little finches. She took it gently and fed it. To show its gratitude, the finches stayed with her and sang every morning.

But there was an ill-tempered old widow who didn't like the finches. She cut the finches's tongue. That's why the bird flew away to its previous nest.

Knowing that her finches flew away, the kind poor girl looked for the finches. She walked a long way, crossed the bridges, climbed the mountains and passed the woods. At last, she could find the finches's nest. The finches welcomed her and provided a feast for her.

Before she went home, the finches brought two baskets, one was large and looked heavy, and the other one was small and light. The finches asked her to choose only one. She choose the small and that was the best choice. There were many rolls of silk and piles of gold in it.

Being jealous, the ill-tempered old widow did the same thing as the kind poor girl did. She chose the big basket which actually contained wasps and venomous crawlers, such as scorpions, centipedes, and other horrible creatures.

Finally, they stung and bit the old widow until death.

Go to the Maya's Home

Today, I am visiting Maya’s home in the village. A beautifull scenery is seen by me in the Maya’s home. Maya is my best friend. She is a smart and diligent student. In the afternoon, some cakes are being eaten by me and Maya in front of Maya’s home. The cakes is so delicious. This cakes were cooked by Maya’s mother an hour ago. Finally, the cakes have been eaten by me and Maya. I and Maya will go to the waterfall near Maya’s home. In the waterfall, I see many peoples. The scenery in the waterfall is so beautifull and interesting. In the waterfall, I and Maya are playing the water. The water is so cold. By evening, I and Maya go to the Maya’s home. I and Maya have taken a bath now and then dinner together with Maya’s family. Tomorrow, I will go to my home. I feel happy with many experiences in Maya’s home.

Gawai Dayak

Gawai day or Gawai Dayak is a festival celebrated in Sarawak on 1^st June every year. It is both a religious and social occasion. The word Gawai means a ritual or festival where as Dayak is a collective name for the native ethnic groups of Sarawak ( and neighboring Indonesian Kalimantan) the Iban, also known as Sea Dayak and the Bidayuh people also known as Land Dayak. Such visit is more commonly known as “ Ngabang “ in the Iban language. Gawai Dayak means “ Dayak Festival”.

Up till 1962, the British colonial goverment refused to recognise Dayak Day. Gawai Dayak was formally gazzeted on 25^th September 1964 as a Public holiday. It was first celebrated on 1^st June 1965 an became a symbol of unity, aspiration and hope for Dayak community. This event is rooted in the tradition of most Dayak tribe, namely agricultural rituals, ceremonies last from of gratitude for their harvest to the Jubata, the name for God.

As the big day approaches, everyone will be busy with general cleaning and preparing food and cakes. Tuak ( rice wine) is brewed ( at least one month before the celebration) and tradisional delicacies like panganan ( cakes from rice flour, sugar, coconut milk ) are prepared.

The celebration starts on tha evening. Around 6 p.m. or as sunset, miring (offering ceremony ) will take place. Before the ceremony, gendang royah (ritual music) is performed. Once the offering ceremony is done, dinner is then served at ruai (an  open gallery which runs through the entire length of the long house ). Just before midnight a procession up and down the ruai seven times called Ngalu Petara ( welcoming the spirit Gods ) is performed. At midnight, the gong is beaten to call the celebrants to attention. The festival Chief will lead everyone to drink tha Ai Pengayu ( normally tuak for long life ). The celebration now turn merrier and less formal. Some will dance to tradisional music played, others will sing the pantun (poems). Other activities that may follow the next few days include : cock fighting matches, and blowpipe and ngajat competitions. On this day, homes of Dayak are opening to visitors and guests.
